Formally educated in art history and abstract impressionism. Harold Schifman was highly influenced by Willem de Kooning, Jackson Pollock and Wassily Kandinsky.

The daring use of color and bold brush strokes of these impressionists forged his style and direction of his paintings.

Schifman moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1985 where he began integrating the extraordinary colors and textures of the desert southwest into his already highly personal style.

His studio in Tucson looked upon the lush desert foothills of Tucson's ruggedly-beautiful Santa Catalina Mountains; where crystal clear sunlight and sunsets created an ever changing display of dramatic patterns.

In 2001 he moved to Paradise Valley, Arizona and nestled peacefully at the top of Mummy Mountain; overlooking the dynamic city of Phoenix.

This new environment further fueled his use of shape and color, inspiring his latest works; where a vibrant metropolis unites with the essence of the Sonoran Desert.

His paintings hang in corporate and private collections throughout the United States.
